Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Medigap plans help pay some of the out-of-pocket costs Original Medicare doesn't cover, such as copays, coinsurance, and deductibles.

How Medigap works

You keep Original Medicare (Parts A and B) and add a Medigap plan from a private carrier. Every doctor that accepts Medicare accepts your Medigap plan.

Standardized letters

Plans A through N are standardized by the federal government. Plan G at one carrier covers what Plan G at another covers.

Nationwide freedom

No networks. Use any provider that accepts Medicare.

Separate drug plan

Medigap does not include Part D. You typically add a standalone prescription drug plan.

Underwriting rules

Guaranteed acceptance during your Medigap Open Enrollment window. After that, most states allow medical underwriting.
